September Favorites

Here’s what I was digging this month!

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk - This pencil is great for so many things. It works well as an eyeshadow base, especially under brighter colors. It can also be blended in the tear duct or brow bone area for a matte highlight (oxymoron much?) color. But my favorite way to use it is to line my waterline – it makes eyes appear bigger and brighter. It was under $5 and these go on sale at Ulta all the time. There are tons of other colors as well, but most of them seem more shimmery and transparent than this one.

Bath and Body Works Slatkin Co Candle in Cider Lane - This smells like a caramel apple. YUM.

Revlon Whipped Colorstay Foundation -  I’m always looking for new foundations to try, and I’ve been happy with this one. It covers really well and has great staying power. The texture isn’t necessarily whipped, more just…extra creamy.  I wouldn’t recommend this for oily skin though, but I know the regular Colorstay is a cult favorite.

JM Exotic Foods Bread Dip Seasonings – After eating at Carrabba’s recently and completely filling up on bread and dip before the meal came, I was inspired to recreate the yumminess at home. I found this multi-sectioned jar of seasonings in the bakery section of my grocery store and it is so good! I have enjoyed mixing the different flavors together with olive oil and serving it with bread before dinner. Makes me feel all fancy!

Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso – It has taken me 15 years of wearing makeup to start experimenting with blush colors, and this is a new favorite. It’s a bright, pink, coralish shade that is super pigmented and known as a dupe of Nars’ naughtily named mega-seller. I like.

Mumford and Sons: Babel – This album only came out a few days ago, but I’ve listened to it so much, it’s earned a spot on this list. I really can’t get enough. Fun and folksy banjos, horns, and tambourines paired with driving rhythms and emotional rise and falls. If you liked their first album, this is pretty much more of the same, in a good way.

Chicken recipe linked below, but not pictured because the website showed it raw, and that ish is gross.

These recipes to recreate Chipotle at home – After moving to a new town, my husband and I have both been jonesing for our favorite burrito bowls. These recipes for chicken and rice are pretty dang close to the real thing and deter us from making the 40 minute drive to get our fix. We had this at least four different times in September, and my husband still requests it. I haven’t attempted a guacamole recipe yet, but only because I am lazy and hate chopping things.

Happy October everybody!

That jumbo eye pencil? NEED. I will be on the lookout for it on my next Ulta trip!
